Military Banner Sample 2012

The City of Eastvale’s Military Banner Program was created to recognize and celebrate Eastvale residents or their immediate family members (spouse, parent, grandparent, legal guardian, child, or sibling) who are currently serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or National Guard). For the purpose of this program, “Active Duty” is defined as 12 months of continuous service.

To be eligible for the Military Banner Program, a service person must:

Be an Eastvale resident or is the spouse, mother, father, daughter, son, brother, sister, grandchild, or legal guardian of a current City of Eastvale resident. Proof of residency will be verified by a provided driver’s license or another form of identification and a recent utility bill listing an Eastvale address; and serving on active duty.  For the purpose of this program, active duty is defined as twelve (12) months of continuous service in the United States Armed Forces. At the time of application submittal, a minimum of six (6) months must be remaining of active duty service.

Applications will be accepted twice annually, during the months of January - March and June - September. Once the application is reviewed and approved, the banner will be created and installed during the months of May and November. Pending annual verification, banners will be on display as long as the honoree is on active duty. The banners are installed along Archibald Avenue and the location of each banner is at the discretion and availability. Banners will be returned to the applicant upon removal, if available.

In the event a serviceperson loses their life during active duty, his/her banner will be removed and presented to his/her family at a City Council meeting depending on the family’s wishes and replaced with a “Gold Star” banner indicating their sacrifice. In this case, a “Gold Star” banner would remain installed perpetually.

The military banner program is funded by the City of Eastvale including the creation and installation of the banners and the purchase and install of banner brackets. Donations are also accepted for this program.
