A message from the Southern California Gas Company:

SoCalGas produces 5.9 million bills each month. We have careful measures in place to confirm that our customers’ bills are accurate, and we regularly look for ways to improve our business processes. Each day, some bills are held for a manual review to confirm accuracy. During the colder weather we experienced in December, January, February some estimated bills occurred over the holidays & winter heating season creating longer-than-average delays for those bills held for manual review. 

As a result, a small percentage of our customers received delayed bills.

Impacted customers did not receive a total for the full amount on their monthly bill for several months and some will now receive a bill that includes several months of natural gas usage. Although the bill may be higher than expected because it contains several months of usage on one bill, it still reflects actual amounts of gas used. Customers are never billed for more gas than they’ve used.

We are notifying these customers by sending them a letter to explain the delay and how to contact us if they have questions. If they need more time to pay their bill or would like to request payment arrangements, they can go to https://www.socalgas.com/pay-bill/need-more-time-to-pay or call SoCalGas at 1-800-427-2200.

Please note that these customers’ natural gas service will not be interrupted or terminated as a result of SoCalGas’ billing delays.
