The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live.
CERT training is a 20-hour, 3-day class that prepares neighbors to help themselves and their neighbors after a disaster when emergency services are unavailable. This training emphasizes personal safety and integration with professional first responders. CERT training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. With training and practice, and by working as a team, you will be able to protect yourself and maximize your capability to help for the greatest number of people after a disaster. Volunteers will learn basic disaster response skills, such as: fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
